Are you self-sabotaging?
Improving your Mental Fitness can help.
Let’s get Mentally Fit.
During my career as a therapist and life coach, I have found that the main reason for clients coming in for counseling services is unhappiness with career, relationship or feeling unable to achieve the level of success they expect and deserve.
Through my work with clients and my own experience with Positive Intelligence (PQ), I have found that it only takes 6 weeks to make the shift needed for lasting change. The development of your positive intelligence will depend on your ability to identify and manage how you self sabotage.
What is self sabotage?
Self-sabotage refers to the subconscious or conscious actions, behaviors, or thought patterns that hinder one’s own progress, success, or well-being. It involves engaging in activities or adopting attitudes that undermine personal goals or lead to negative consequences. Self-sabotage often stems from deep-seated beliefs, fears, or unresolved issues.
Common forms of self-sabotage include procrastination, negative self-talk, fear of success, fear of failure, perfectionism, and engaging in destructive habits. For example, someone might sabotage their career by avoiding challenging opportunities or procrastinating on important tasks. In relationships, self-sabotage could manifest as fear of intimacy or pushing away supportive partners.
Understanding and addressing self-sabotage is crucial for personal development and achieving goals. It often involves self-reflection, identifying limiting beliefs, and implementing strategies to replace self-sabotaging behaviors with more constructive ones.
What is mental Fitness
Mental fitness serves as a powerful antidote to self-sabotage. By cultivating a mentally fit mindset, individuals can effectively disrupt and overcome patterns of self-destructive behavior. Here’s how mental fitness intervenes to stop self-sabotage:
- Awareness and Recognition: Mental fitness involves heightened self-awareness. As individuals build mental resilience, they become more attuned to their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This heightened awareness enables them to recognize self-sabotaging patterns as they emerge.
- Saboteur Identification: Mental fitness methodologies often include identifying and understanding internal Saboteurs, the culprits behind self-sabotage. Recognizing the Judge, Controller, Avoider, and others allows individuals to address these saboteurs head-on.
- Positive Intelligence: Practices associated with mental fitness, such as positive intelligence, empower individuals to shift from negative emotional states to positive ones. This shift is crucial in breaking the cycle of self-sabotage and approaching challenges with a constructive and optimistic mindset.
- Mindset Transformation: Mental fitness encourages the rewiring of negative narratives. Instead of succumbing to self-doubt and fear, individuals learn to reframe situations positively. This transformation in mindset is a formidable defense against self-sabotage.
- Decision-Making from Positivity: A mentally fit individual makes decisions from a place of positivity rather than succumbing to the influence of internal saboteurs. This proactive decision-making contributes to more favorable outcomes and prevents self-sabotage from dictating choices.
Mental Fitness is cultivated through the techniques and practices of Positive Intelligence (PQ) developed by Shirzad Chaime. PQ is the most direct way of equipping individuals with the tools to navigate challenges without falling prey to self-sabotaging tendencies. It not only stops self-sabotage, but also paves the way for a more fulfilling and successful life.
Negativity is not a lifestyle!
You can learn to SHIFT out of negative emotional states to positive emotional states where you will be able to make meaningful changes in your life at work, in your finances and in your relationships. Rewriting the negative narrative and making decisions from a place of positivity will lead to more satisfying outcomes. Sometimes we cannot change our experiences, but we can learn to change our perception and this is the first step towards the successful lifestyle you want.

Positive Intelligence identifies saboteurs such as; the Judge, Controller, Avoider, Victim, Stickler, Restless, Hyper-Rational, Pleaser, Hyper-Achiever, and Hyper-Vigilant. Which saboteurs do you have and how are you negatively impacted?
